The Importance of Girths in Saddle Fitting

An overtightened girth can hurt your horse. It can also pull the saddle out of balance.  Elasticated girths should be elasticated at both ends or in the middle, not just on one side.      Be sure that the girth is not so far forward as to interfere with the movement of the horse's forelegs. The girth should be tightened one hole at a time on either side of the horse to ensure equality of pressure.
